Celestial Mermaids by Sabrina Vincent

[/caption] Isn't this watercolour gorgeous? Sabrina Vincent is the first artist inspiration I am featuring on my blog, because I really enjoy her fanciful and endearing illustrations. You all know that I am more in love with watercolour illustrations every day, and I have begun following my favourite illustrators through blogs and pinterest. Sabrina's work immediately caught my eye because she also uses ink and watercolours together.

Her characters are always dressed impeccably with the cutest hair. This Valentines paper heart illustration made me smile because Valentines cards are so much on my mind right now. I also love her tiny hands! I always tend towards drawing hands much smaller than could possibly be realistic (good thing I draw cartoons!).

For the pieces below, they made me smile because of the look on the younger mermaids face as her chess pieces float away. You can probably all guess why I enjoy the puppet illustration! I am really into the way she has chosen to deal with watercolour backgrounds. I always struggle with finding a cohesive way to add a background with edges. Her rounded-corner grey backdrops really pull her images together.
