Illustration Inspiration: Abigail Halpin
Abigail Halpin is an Illustrator from Northern New England. She has an adorable illustration blog and a hilarious AND adorable comic blog, A Thousand Cups of Coffee. I have been following her work for almost a year, but only found the comic blog recently (How did I miss it? It's linked from the main page of the blog... sometimes I am blind, I swear.)
Abigail's drawings always make me smile. I love that, like me, she uses watercolour, digital, sketches, ink... all mixed together. Plus her characters and style are so unique, I feel like I would know her work anywhere.
Also: SHE DRAWS MONSTERS. All the time. With no explanations. Like this guy above? The blog post he sits in is about Saturdays. There is nothing to do with monsters, but there he is. She inspires me to start adding more of a surprise factor to my illustrations. And maybe to post more casual sketches?
Last but definitely not least, here is an image from A Thousand Cups of Coffee. All of these posts make my days brighter. I read all of them in one really unproductive but enjoyable afternoon. No regrets. This blog is what I imagine my closest friend's blogs would be like if they illustrated. (Less insanity than my blog, more witty insights into the small things that make every day funny and ironic.)
Thanks to Abigail for agreeing to let me re-use her illustrations in my space! I hope that all of you are as immediately smitten with them as I was!
