All in Personal

March 26th 2019: Day in the Life

I want to preface this “Day in the Life” with some perspective. This was both an “easy day” because Molly was in daycare, which happens twice a week, and a “hard day” because Jason was gone for most of it. It was also on the harder side because I am on the third day of a head cold and because James is fighting a stomach virus. My life normally has a lot of poo in it, but not quite this much! Haha!

Also, this was a very eye-opening exercise. I am often bewildered with what happened to my day, and lose track of accomplishments. When Jason asked about my day via text, I only mentioned the diaper accidents and not much else but I obviously managed and dealt with a lot! My reason for doing this was that I wanted a record of what life was like right now, since it’s a lot of chaos but also a lot of joy. Things are hectic and tiring and fun.

Oil Sketch of James

Real life James is 11 months old now! He is such a sweetie. He crawls and stands and is sort of cruising on the furniture (like holding the furniture and walking carefully around it) but he won’t really walk if you hold his hands, he just sits down. He is super into taking things out of containers. It’s his favourite!

Grocery Store Plants Are My Secret Favourite?

I bought a pot of these huge yellow mums at the grocery store the other day. When Molly was about one and a half I guess she and Jason went to the grocery store and he said offhand “I guess we should buy some flowers for mummy!” and then for about half a year she would say that exact phrase every time we went in the store. And now even though she is four and hates the grocery store, every time I walk in and see the flowers I think “We should buy some flowers for mummy! Yep. And we will. Bahaha!” (Sometimes I say that all out loud including the evil laugh and people give me side eye).

February Blues- 2019 Edition

I’m embroidering around the faded neckline of this handmade Darling Ranges Dress (The fabric is by Martha Negley). I thought you would prefer this image to my grumpy face. Ha.

It’s been very icy and cold and generally gross out and I can feel the seasonal depression hitting me hard.

2018 Year In Review

2018. As with all years, this year had great joy and great grief. We met James, who I love madly. Knowing him has made my heart balloon to an enormous size, just as knowing Molly has done. I have breathed deep and treasured every sniff of his head, every smile, every milestone. Every year of knowing my children is a year of joy, imagination, laughter and love.

Hi James, We Love You!

We welcomed James Arthur into the family on April 12th at 4:22am! He was 23 inches long (half an inch longer than Molly, and she was super long!) and 8lbs 8oz. Of course (because what can you expect after a pregnancy like that one?), nothing went as planned. At all.
