Happiest Button-Down I Have Ever Seen
Ahhhh! I love this shirt! If a shirt were happiness, it would be this shirt.
Made myself a Grainline Studios Archer Shirt after seeing them all over the sewing blogs. It seemed like the perfect loose fitting "boyfriend" style of shirt (except I, ah, made it out of a bright yellow floral that Jay would never in a million years choose).
I put a little piece of another fabric in the inside yoke. It makes me happy to know it's there, like a little surprise that most people won't know about.
Construction was pretty smooth, in fact, the most smooth ever. That is one well made pattern. I don't think I have ever had things line up as neatly as with this shirt. I added two inches to the length and cut a 16, grading out to an 18 at the hips since the final measurements sounded like I could use the extra hip room.
I am super excited about my button choice. We went to Nova Sewing on Ottawa street (they have the best buttons!) where Jay picked out some buttons for the shirt I am making him and I found this kind of art deco plastic white buttons.
I feel like picking out really special details like the buttons is what makes having sewn this myself super worthwhile.
I really like the shape of this shirt for casual stuff... I definitely need a plaid flannel one, now!
