Sneak Peek! James St. North, Hamilton
It's done! Holy. Labour. Of. Love. Never did I expect that this map would take me months to finish. But now that it's done, I am super excited to share it with all of you! You will have to wait for the big picture for when I launch it on Etsy, but I wanted to give a peek at some of my favourite details. I think Mex-I-Can (in the bottom left corner) is my favourite, because it's one of the only places that I feel safe eating at with Celiac. Mulberry Coffee in the bottom left has great lattes and a artsy, cozy vibe. Mixed Media (top left) is one of those stores that is a treasure trove of awesome. I always feel that I have stayed too long when I visit, but I always leave with some new obsession. Last time, it was Uppercase Magazine. The top left is a building I think is really pretty, although I haven't tried the restaurant.
Do you like the compass rose? I have a lot of fun drawing them, they remind me of the doodles I used to cover my agenda with in highschool.
You know what's awesome? After photographing the front and sometimes back of every building, then staring intently at photos as I drew in each tiny detail...I know this part of Hamilton like the back of my hand, now! My friend Amy can attest to that, as I dragged her into an alley one day to peek through fences & check the back of some buildings.
