March 26th 2019: Day in the Life

I want to preface this “Day in the Life” with some perspective. This was both an “easy day” because Molly was in daycare, which happens twice a week, and a “hard day” because Jason was gone for most of it. It was also on the harder side because I am on the third day of a head cold and because James is fighting a stomach virus. My life normally has a lot of poo in it, but not quite this much! Haha!

Also, this was a very eye-opening exercise. I am often bewildered with what happened to my day, and lose track of accomplishments. When Jason asked about my day via text, I only mentioned the diaper accidents and not much else but I obviously managed and dealt with a lot! My reason for doing this was that I wanted a record of what life was like right now, since it’s a lot of chaos but also a lot of joy. Things are hectic and tiring and fun.

You Know What Makes Me Happy? Molly and my Mom

Many people know that my mom has been coming to help with Molly. Many people may not realize that she has actually been religiously coming on every day where Molly is home from daycare (3 times a week). She also arrives as early as she can, is driving from Toronto every day (at least a 45 minute trip each way, usually longer), tidies our house, does dishes and laundry, makes lunch for all of us, wrangles Finnegan and her dog Tucker, often brings meals or snacks, takes Molly out to the library or grocery store AND seems to have bottomless energy and patience for entertaining Molly with crafts, elaborate games, sledding, you name it!

My Grandma had this one look... kind of a pursed lip, twinkly eye look. Like her lips were trying to portray disapproval but her eyes couldn't contain the mischievous soul that secretly found humour in the situation and was maybe poking it along a bit to see what might happen.

She was a bit of a troublemaker.

I was reminded by an email from my aunt (her daughter) that she died ten years ago today.
