$15 Fall Decor Challenge (Part 1)

Jeanette asked on twitter if any other bloggers would be into doing a fall decoration challenge with her and I was SO IN. The rules are that we have to take $15 to the dollar or thrift store and find some autumn decorating items and make some kind of tableau or decoration and then blog it and share everyone else's.

2 Year Blog-iver-sary!

Today marks two years of blogging for Living In A Green Room. I kind of can't believe that I stuck it out this long. I thought for sure that this was going to be one of those things that I did for two months and than gradually faded away from, like so many other hobbies and passions in my life. I love this space. I love telling stories, making people laugh, connecting with all my friends and readers who I might not get to see in person as often as I would like. This blog has given me a huge and amazing expressive outlet.

Blogging: Notes on Evolution and Growth for Bloggers & People Who Are Interested

Blogging is a mysterious beast. I wish that I had known, before I started, what it would mean to my life. One of three things happens when people begin a blog. Most people post a few times and then abandon their blogs to obscurity forever. This happened with my once-upon-a-time Xanga diary in highschool. Other people post somewhat frequently and easily, reposting content they love from other blogs and happily typing about their days to family and friends. The third group is more serious.

The Bind

Two mornings ago I was in a bind. And by bind I mean both as a difficult situation and as tight or restricted clothing. How did I get there? I will explain. I wore my hippy skirt on my bicycle.

If you've ever done this, that will explain everything to you. If not, keep reading.

I was going to work and I decided to wear my new flowing hippy skirt and my new "hipster" glasses. I made it to Queen West when my bike started to slow down for no really good reason. (Or so I thought).

"Boo-Yah" Maxi Dress DIY For Tall Girls

Maxi dresses! You don't have to shave. You look hot. You keep cool. You can wear the comfiest shoes and nobody knows. You can finally wear your jean jacket with something. Maxi dresses, Sock Buns, and my new glasses are my latest obsessions. *screeching vinyl sound*

Should come with warning message: Only attempt this if you are short.

One Year Living In A Green Room Anniversary!

Guess what today is? Okay, I know... I gave it away in the title. I am always doing that. THIS IS THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF LIVING IN A GREEN ROOM!!! I can't believe it's been a year. I swear I was sure that I only had enough material for 7 blog posts.

Like all years of my life, this one has had it's tumultuous moments. I started blogging the day after I lost my dream job to budget problems. I remember Allison telling me that I should blog because she would always read it.

Guest Post: Hiking To A Monastery One Day...

This post is a guest post brought to you by Hitoko Okada, who has been featured in a few stories on Living In A Green Room (here and here). She agreed to be my second guest blogger and her story made me laugh out loud. So... enjoy! And visit her blog to take a peek at her clothing and art designs. Hiking toward an old Buddhist monastery deep in the Himalayan foothills of Sikkim, India, I intercepted a small group of German botanists adventuring on a orchid expedition. I was delighted!

You Know What Makes Me Happy? Nom Nom Nom Tea Club.

The Ladies (& 2 Men) that I sit/work with are completely lovely. I didn't draw them all in this picture. This is a sampling (Left to Right: Me, Kayla, Alessandra's back & Ashley). We've bonded over tea, candied ginger, stories of our love lives, engagement stories, wedding planning, puppets, Phineas & Ferb, clothes, dentists who scam us, Elvis weddings, and dancing in our cubicles. But mostly we bond over tea.We love tea. We like it in bags and cheap. We like it loose and expensive. We like it most when it's loose and inexpensive. I've drawn us at our normal stations at the kitchen counter, waiting for the kettle to boil.

Zen 2.0 & The Green Room Collide and Make Sweet Magic

Have you heard of the Zen Apartment? Or its new incarnation as Zen 2.0? Allison of Create Positive Spin & Robin of Still Motion Image moved in downstairs in December. We are a blogging mecca, this house. You have seen Allison in previous posts, but you might be wondering how it's going, with the Green Room stacked over Zen 2.0? Can both wonderful places exist at the same latitude and longitude on earth without explosions of happiness and possible nuclear fallout?
