You Know Who Makes Me Happy? My Mom.

It's Mother's Day! I just wanted to write a short post to tell you all about how amazing my mom is. The illustrated picture is of my mom with Brenna and I at roughly the ages of 9 and 6. I feel like some of my most poignant memories of my mom were at this age. I still remember watching her get ready to go out to dinner with my dad and curling her hair, putting on lipstick and perfume and fancy shoes and being in awe of how beautiful she was (and still is).

I Chews You - Happy Valentines Day!

Valentines Season is arriving again. There are no heart pictures this year, instead I decided to embrace the art of the eccentric valentine. Usually these weird valentines are things that I send to the people I love (Doesn't everyone compare their love for their mom with their love of onions once a year? Makes your eyes water with goodness and has tons of layers? No?)

As I Draw: Blanket Forts

This is my most recent illustration, and the latest addition to my portfolio. I became fixated on blanket forts over the Christmas break, insisting that we build one for New Years Eve at Jay's house, which basically tore apart his living room and left an unholy mess. At the same time, I was illustrating my first full sized watercolour illustration in his kitchen. It's inspired by the feelings that I had as a child, when my sister and I would make undending blanket forts between the couch and coffee table, or through the basement.

Guest Post: In The Footsteps Of The Godfather

Guest blog time, again! Grace (a.k.a. "My Mom") agreed to write one if I would illustrate it. You will probably be able to tell where I get my 'voice' from. This is from her first trip to Italy, wherein she also bought a killer red leather jacket that I illustrated here. Okay, the main thing to know here is that I am absolutely phobic about heights. The third rung of a ladder is too high.
