I can’t even believe I painted this! I have struggled with portraits for years. I only started oil painting 7 months ago (except one painting of an apple in high school). I only did my first self portrait 6 months ago. The glasses might be asymmetrical but I love this painting because it looks JUST LIKE my Grandma.

I think this painting is my favourite of all the artwork I made this year.

Sometimes the things that mean the most to us (me) are the ones that nobody really stops to look at. This didn’t do well on social media and nobody was inspired to have me paint their portrait because of it, but I know in my heart that it’s the most important piece of art I made this year, and a real turning point. And that’s enough for me.
