Yellow and Aqua Hawthorne Dress
We're one week in to Me-Made-May 2014 now. I feel like I have been taking so many selfies that it's alarming (maybe only to me?). Today I am wearing my Hawthorn Dress from Colette Patterns. I actually made this in early winter, to serve as a practice for teaching the class on it for Needlework and to stay as a shop sample for them until the class was done. I've lost 20lbs since then, so it's slightly big now and needs to be belted. That (and the fact that any wind with a circle skirt equals 100% chance of flashing people) are why I don't wear this dress much. But I do really like it... I will keep my eye out for windless days.
There are some definite handmade-item holes in my closet that are already apparent after a week of wearing handmade every day. I wish I had more handmade accessories, some jeans, and more maxi dresses. I wish I had time to immediately fill those wardrobe holes, but the wedding is kind of all-consuming right now. People keep telling me "You seem so relaxed about it!" but I feel like... yeah, relaxed about what things look like but INSANE about how many things are still left to do. On the bright side, I finished the wedding dress... so I won't be naked on the wedding day. (And as you can see, the grass is green now! Yay!!)
